Sometimes I think about what fanvids I'd make if I had the technical skills. Until I actually develop said abilities, I'm going to deposit this list here so someone else can be indignant with me that these things don't exist.

Surely everyone has a running list of fanvids they want, right? I'm going to assume, as always, that my experience is universal and y'all do. Here's (a partial view of) mine.

Girl in the Cage by Barnaby Bright, for Black Swan
The girl in the cage bent the bars and left the stage
The crowd demanded more
Hear the feet stomp the floor
Cries of ‘bravo!’ and ‘encore!’
No one heard her say:

Over me only sky, and the night is rising
By the way you were right, this is just like flying
Let’s start here: I basically haven't seen a movie in ten years. But, like. Look. I'm shallow, it's a song about performance and escape and a source material obsessed with being seen. What else was I supposed to do, okay?? The denouement of the song and the movie match just perfectly.

Snakes by Bastille, for Aziraphale
Snakes are biting at my heels
The worries that refuse to let us go
I’ve been kicking them away
And hoping not to let them take control

Ooh, I’m not ready
Drink to escape their bites
Show me distraction
Even for just one night

'Cause it's easier to bury
My head in the sand sometimes
Yes, it's easier to bury
My head in the sand sometimes
Definitely more appropriate for the TV portrayal of Aziraphale than the book version, but. C'mon! Snake imagery! Drinking! Aziraphale's primary flaws of cowardice and avoidance! What more could one need for a fanvid.

Touch Up by Mother Mother, for Pose
I am a, a makeover queen
Swan out of duckling
Ugly duckling, you're drowning
In makeup (in makeup)
My makeup (my makeup)
Has washed off

I forget that I can remember when
I was young, climbing up fences
Scraping my knees, dirt on my cheeks
Not one makeover queen bone in me
I recall the doorbell was ringing and
There were Avon ladies singing wholesale
Wholesale

All my makeup
It has washed off
It has washed off
It has washed off

I need a touch up
Oops, made myself sad!!! Someone please be sad with me!!!!!!

Rib Cage by NIXE, for Miyazaki heroines
We know that time is running low
And we left so much at home
I like that the dust can't settle out in the open road

Cause I, I always loved the sound of a bright blaze
Beating on my rib cage
In this night air I never want to go home
And I, I need to feel the heart beats
Hidden in the old streets
Take me where the noise is
Wrapped up in new voices
No, I never want to go home
I don't want to go home
The first time I heard this song I absolutely fell in love with it. It's got this fierce freshness and, like, wind-in-your-face joy that grabbed me instantly. Then you get these lyrics about exploring and I just!! Miyazaki has that bright, swirling motion that this song wants, and a whole catalogue of stories about young women going out into their worlds.

A Hair on the Head of John the Baptist by Saltillo, for Crimson Peak
I must be cruel, only to be kind;
Thus bad begins, and worse remains behind
I loved you not

Presume not that I am the thing I was!
For God doth know, so shall the world perceive
That I have turn'd away my former self;
So will I those that kept me company
Okay, yes, I know that Crimson Peak came out like a hundred years ago but here's the thing. Guillermo del Toro doesn't fux around with visuals, and the Bluebeard story is a great match for this song that samples Hamlet and Henry V, Part 1.

Throne by Saint Mesa, for Killmonger
You called me a friend
Now broken bones
Will stay on the mend
Or decompose
Believe, you and me
It's more than drums
I'll burn your ship alive
I'm coming home

You hate my bad behavior
You cut my loosened tongue
You play the part of savior
I watch you come undone
Hmm, a song that thrums with movement and malevolence and revenge fantasies. What a match for a villain dripping physicality and threat. Also, there’s royalty imagery! Believe there's freedom, took my soul / I’ll burn your shit alive and take the throne Chef_kiss.png

Holly by Sleigh Bells, for Jennifer’s Body
Wasted all day, killing all the Capulets
Find a new face, pretty whores' namesake
Keep that set straight, Holly on the decay
Skip that Holocaust, hang it on the colored cross

Holly went to heaven, Holly can't hate
Find a new face, pretty whores' namesake
Never need to ask, we'll tell you who's boss
Holly, on the six with a crossed out Pentecost
Two points. One, this movie was an important part of my baby lesbian idiocy/self discovery, and I will hear no words against it. Two, this is the film that brought us the immortal line of dialogue: You're killing people? / No. I'm killing boys. You know you're gonna need Sleigh Bells to handle that level of psychotic brat.

I have a few other vids that I'm daydreaming about, but most of them are on [personal profile] isozyme's potential WIP list, so I'll keep them private for now. Needless to say: They are mostly about Tony Stark, and if she makes them, they're gonna hurt.

...by the way, for any who've read this far and may be interested: I'm still super happy to talk potential songs for vids! Festivids is coming up, after all >:)
